PROCESS CONTROL TECHNICIAN

Direct responsibility for working with asset stake holders; Managers, Process Supervisors, Engineering, Instrumentation Technicians and Control Room operations to optimize plant and pipeline efficiency through the maintenance, development, and effective modification of process control systems; Basic Process Control System (BPCS), Safety Instrumented System (SIS), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems and Advanced Process Controls (APC).
Essential Functions andResponsibilities
Dailymaintenance and troubleshooting of BPCS, SIS, DCS, and PLC platforms (AllenBradley, Modicon, Delta V, Clear SCADA, etc.)
Includinghardware diagnostic monitoring (responding and clearing of faults, batteryissues, etc.).
Softwaremaintenance, including repairs and upgrades
RoutinePM’s of DCS/PLC systems (inspection of climate controls, filter maintenance,monitoring of scan times, etc.
Respondingto after-hours calls of DCS/DCS/PLC system issues and emergencies
Main point of call for issues concerningDCS/PLC systems.
Programmaintenance and archiving to ensure that the latest programs are alwaysavailable
Appropriate backup systems/proceduresare documented and followed.
Developmentof best practice procedures and documentation surrounding DCS/PLC systems toensure standard work processes site wide.
Developand review controls narratives to ensure DCS/PLC systems meet operations,safety, and compliance expectations.
Lifecyclemaintenance of existing DCS/PLC systems
AssistsI/E Engineer in developing lifecycle assessments of the system based on vendorrecommendation and general system health.
Monitorshealth of systems to ensure that projects for the systems are scheduled andplanned appropriately.
Assists with project lead duties on DCS/PLCprojects.
Liaisonfor all project needs:
Firstpoint of contact for projects requiring additional logic or I/O additions.
Subjectmatter expert on DCS/PLC programs and assists in implementation of new controlschemes and migration plans to ensure proper operations of the facilities.
Proficient in switch and routerinstallation, programming and troubleshooting techniques.
Programmingof necessary DCS/PLC logic additions for projects.
To exclude vendor skid programming (thistypically is supported by the vendor).
Liaisonwith 3 rd party integrators and system vendors to implement work onthe system.
Respondingto operations request for assistance with control issues, graphicsmodifications, and general control improvement recommendations.
Assistin development of programming standards and best practices.
Workclosely with operators, process engineers and maintenance techs to ensuresmooth, efficient operation of the plants and other facilities.
Responsibilitiesmay include Department of Transportation (DOT) covered functions, includingoperations, maintenance, or emergency response on a pipeline. Job duties alsorequire the employee to be alert and respond immediately to dangerous orhazardous conditions, and where impaired performance, or failure to followsafety precautions, could result in serious injury or property damage.
Regularand reliable attendance is required in performance of job.

Three years of industrial programming experience or strong electrical and instrumentation skills with a developed skill for programming:
Experiencemodifying, maintaining and installing process control computer systemapplications, specifically, BPCS, SIS, DCS/PLC and Human-Machine Interface (HMI)system software and hardware.
Useand function of other office and computer equipment applicable to position.
Experienceon Allen Bradley, Modicon, Delta V, Clear SCADA, or Honeywell systems withdocumented training courses.
Demonstratedproficiency with loop tuning and advanced control optimization strategies.
Applicationof math, algebra and statistical formulas.
Trainingand experience relative to:
Processcontrol system operations and file structures
Designing,coding and networking process control programs
HumanMachine Interfaces (HMIs)
Experiencereading and interpreting repair orders, mechanical drawings, P&ID’s, procedures,charts, diagrams, dials, gauges, and equipment manuals.
Experienceand training related to:
Computersand related software
Governmentalrules, regulations, and (electric) codes
Safehandling practices for flammable gases, liquids, and high-pressure systems.
Design and safeguarding safety systems
Experiencereading and interpreting engineering drawings, computer printouts, systemrequirements and programs, contracts, manuals, policies and procedures.
Experiencepreparing and composing file, record, and screen layouts, reports, projectproposals, training outlines, manuals, procedures and correspondence.
Demonstratedability to read and write fluently in English.
Communicateand/or exchange information or instructions; conduct oral presentations and/ormeetings.
Excellentinterpersonal, presentation, verbal and written communication skills, with theability to interact and advise effectively with internal and external businesspartners at all levels.
Applicablecertifications as required by position.
Applicable driver’s license required fortravel to other company locations.
Lift,push, pull, or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds 25 times a day;up to 20 pounds 3‑5 times a day; up to 30 pounds 3‑5 timesa day; up to 40 pounds 3‑5 times a day; over 50 pounds 3‑5 timesa day.
Climband/or maneuver over, under, and around engines, pipe racks, and equipmentwhile servicing, maintaining, and/or repairing.Ability to work on elevated work surfaces.
