PIPELINE OPERATOR - Electrical Experience Preferred

Job Summary

Assist with or perform activities related to the operation and maintenance of storage facilities and/or to gas and/or liquid pipeline systems.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Preference for electrical experience. Ex: 480v, three-phase motors, wiring, general troubleshooting, etc.

  • Assist with and/or perform operations and maintenance activities on systems including compressor stations, gas storages, dehydration facilities, pumping facilities, measurement facilities, and related equipment. Assist with or perform rotating shift work at storage facility including, but not limited to:

  • Operating and maintaining storage field equipment

  • Measurement activities/Gauging tanks

  • Changing charts

  • Blowing drips

  • Maintain facility appearance

  • Quality assurance/quality control

  • Operation of engines/gas compressors

  • Gas dehydration equipment

  • Startup and shutdown

  • Pigging

  • Collecting liquids

  • Gauging tanks

  • Locating and marking lines

  • Monitoring cathodic protective/basic pipeline coatings

  • Leakage surveys/patrolling pipelines

  • Dispatching line locates

  • Construction watch

  • Monitor pressure and check operation of equipment.

  • Monitor usage and/or replace lubricants, fluids, inhibitors, chemicals, etc., as needed to ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment.

  • Exchange information regarding pipeline operations, maintenance, measurement, and other activities with public/governmental officials, employees, contractors, customers, producers, and land owners.

  • Calculate, compile, and/or prepare information and reports including but not limited to:

  • Gas/liquid flow and quality

  • Maintenance and/or repair logs

  • Samples (gas/liquids)

  • Pipeline/corrosion activities

  • Construction inspection

  • Appropriate regulatory requirements

  • Drive and ensure maintenance is complete on company vehicles.

  • Read, record, prepare, and/or process information from charts, dials, gauges, controls, and other recording devices including but not limited to:

  • Equipment maintenance and repair

  • Equipment operation and performance problems

  • Safety/environmental forms

  • Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.

  • Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Preference for electrical experience

  • Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of a storage facility

  • Working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of pipeline systems and related equipment utilized in natural gas and liquids gathering and transmission systems

  • Knowledge in use, function, and maintenance of tools applicable to position

  • Training related to repair and maintenance of compressor station and storage facility equipment

  • Demonstrated ability to assist in maintenance and repair of equipment

  • Application of basic arithmetic to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division

  • Working knowledge and/or training related to:

  • Company and governmental operating/safety procedures

  • Gas system/liquid pipeline maintenance operations

  • Storage well injection and withdrawal

  • Construction and maintenance activities

  • Characteristics of products handled

  • Ability to read and interpret maps, drawings, plats, atlas pages, work logs, job orders, dials, gauges, charts, procedures, and operational and repair manuals

  • Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and complete work assignments

  • Working knowledge of patrolling pipelines, performing leakage surveys, and locating/marking lines

  • Working knowledge of valves and dehydration equipment, scrubbers, and separators

  • Working knowledge of cathodic protection/corrosion control activities

  • Working knowledge of use and function of computers and related software

  • Working knowledge of how to prepare and maintain logs and records

  • Experience interacting and communicating effectively

  • Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English

  • The ability to communicate and/or exchange written and verbal information and instructions

Certification and Licensing

  • Applicable driver’s license.

  • Applicable certifications as required by the position.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds 10 – 15 time a day, up to 20 pounds 3 – 5 times a day, up to 30 pounds 3 – 5 times a day is required, as is the ability to push or pull objects requiring over 50 pounds exertion 10 – 15 times a day

  • Travel over uneven terrain including, but not limited to mud, gravel sand, rocks, ice, snow

  • Walk, stand and kneel/stoop for extended periods

  • Climb on elevated work surfaces

  • Work in confined areas

  • React immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others

  • Detect and react to warning signals at work sites

  • Operate tools and equipment as required

  • Handle various chemicals

Visual Requirements

  • The ability to distinguish between colors and utilize peripheral vision and accurate depth perception sufficient to perform job duties
