JOB SUMMARY

Responsibilities:

Using MS SCOM, monitor system uptime availability and maintain the framework for new and existing applications, servers, and services that require monitoring at the enterprise level.

Customize enterprise monitoring rules, alerting, and reporting functions for applicable applications and servers, and produce reports depicting the performance indicators for these applications and servers, such as “uptime” and “downtime.”

Administrative knowledge of Windows Operating System and related technologies (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, SCCM)

Administrative knowledge of Linux

Performs routine daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly tasks to ensure systems are functioning optimally. Includes system upgrades, patches, etc.

Works with certificate monitoring software to create alerts for expiring certificates

Administers Systems Center Orchestration software to create and maintain runbooks and automations

Plans, coordinates, evaluates, and implements key enterprise systems – hardware and software

Takes initiative to provide IT Team oversight involving high level information technology updates, recommendations, best practices, assessments and risk analysis

Assists with policies and procedures as they relate to Information Technology

Makes recommendations for enhancing IT processes including Auditing, Workflows and Structure

Demonstrates willingness to educate and mentor less senior staff

Acts as Tier2/Tier3 helpdesk support when necessary

Member of On Call Rotation for technical support

Develop and maintain technical documentation.

Perform other IT duties as assigned by management.

4+ years of relevant experience with SCOM and related technologies

Experience leading or supporting one or more SCCM or SCOM implementation projects.

Job Profile Summary

Performs complex problem management and configuration management related to IT infrastructure and support. May provide consultative support to less experienced staff.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other subject matter experts and infrastructure architects to set strategy for core technologies

  • Manage complex problems which escalate beyond the status of incident. Coordinate the appropriate personnel to troubleshoot and resolve the problem

  • Responsible for solving highly technical problems on multiple projects and providing consultative support to internal staff. May act as mentor to less experienced employees

  • Perform root cause analysis on resolved problems. Design and develop appropriate monitoring or other proactive measures to prevent future occurrences

  • Mentor staff members during problem resolution and root cause analysis to increase their efficiency and knowledge

  • Analyze and document the architecture and configuration of application infrastructure

  • Provide configuration and engineering for new technologies

  • Lead the support and configuration activities for technologies as an assigned subject matter expert

  • Complete tasks assigned in order to accomplish approved application and/or infrastructure change controls

  • Collaborate with other IT personnel on technology and support issues

  • Consult with applications and infrastructure personnel on new initiatives and the impacts they will have on infrastructure

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer sciences or an equivalent combination of the following formal education and job-related experience. The level of knowledge needed for this position is typically obtained with ten plus years of experience in a discipline relevant to core IT architecture.

Work Experience

  • Significant experience and understanding of current data center technologies

  • Experience in the support and function of:

  • Infrastructure hardware configuration

  • IP networking

  • Windows Server and/or Unix operating systems

  • Shared storage technologies

  • Virtualization technologies

  • Event monitoring, logging and data collection techniques

  • Experience mentoring, influencing and facilitating discussions across a wide range of teams and technologies

  • Security administration

  • Data base administration

  • Experience identifying, researching, and analyzing core technology problems and performing root cause analysis.

  • Experience reviewing and interpreting manuals, journals, computer display screens, computer printouts, error logs, and correspondence.

  • Experience researching, preparing, and composing systems operating procedures and documentation, reports, and correspondence

  • Experienced interacting with external customers and vendors relationships
